The poster features Hortense Stollnitz, born in 1897 she took up typing in 1914 to prepare for a journalism course at Columbia. By 1917 she was acclaimed as one of the fastest and accurate typists in America. In a 1917 contest she typed 159 words per minute for over one hour on a Remington 10 model typewriter. Shortly after she began working for Remington traveling the U.S. giving demonstrations, a lot of times in schools, probably where this poster originated.
